Sims 2 babies can be excessively cute.
There are mods to avoid the Social Worker taking your kids. One is SimSlice's which I use a lot. Available here.
If Sims' children are taken away by the Social Worker, unlike Sims 1 and Sims 3, where they disappear completely from the game, they go into the Adoption Pool. The next Sim family to ask to adopt a baby will receive the LAST removed baby from your game, and so on - so long as the age groups match.
So it is relatively easy to "rescue" a child from the Social Workers. Use another family as a foster-family, and have them adopt. Once adopted, the child can be returned to its original family by moving child + and adult to the original family in the Neighbourhood Screen. The adult can then be moved out again.
Or you could use this to make an orphanage. Or the SW Care Home.
To make seed orphans, make or download some, move them into a lot with one parent, age down the parent and wait. The social worker comes and picks them all up, erasing any memories they used to have.
Changing their clothes can be difficult though.
Maxis seemed to think, when they designed this game, that babies ONLY wear nappies (diapers). The game defaults to a baby wearing only a nappy, until toddler stage.
The nappies come off only when baby is being bathed.
Well, for years, in the Sims 2, it was possible to change the babies' clothes - but you could only have one item of baby clothing which ALL your babies would wear, one at a time. So if you chose a yellow babygro with a blue teddy, ALL babies in your game would wear this one.
There are three ways to do this.
There are some mods that will deal with this issue and let you change the baby's clothing.
