The Heirloom Challenge is still being played at
The original rules:
1. You may not
demolish the house and start with a bare lot, although you may add a second
floor, or another room, or move interior walls.
2. There is no limit on the amount you can spend.
3. There are some objects from the base game TS1 which have been left to you as
part of the inheritance, and these objects must
be somewhere on the lot in your challenge entry or entries. These objects
are the 'See Me, Feel Me Pinball Machine', the 'SimSafari' zebra sofa, the 'SC
Electric Co Antique' brass lamp with the white shade, and the 'Tragic Clown'
painting. If you have Living Large, Deluxe, Double Deluxe, or the Complete
Collection, then the llama topiary is also required. (Nobody said this was going
to be easy!
)
4. Patchover has been kind enough to allow the use of one of her (base game only
required) lots. Download Lot 1 from Blue Patty's (TS, not LL) folder at http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/SimSummer/
This challenge was a great deal of fun. I'm not used to decorating other people's houses, other than the Maxis, and every time I do, I find it a delight. Bob initially planned to be a writer but as we all know there is little money in that! However, he made a very lucky discovery in his hobby of running a Slice City, so that instead of using the Motherlode cheat, this home was all paid for by "honest" work. During this period he married a mail-order bride, and was rapidly widowed (tragic - swimming pool accidents seem all too common these days! Marge's tombstone is in the middle of Slice City...)
Bob stayed at home building up the Slice City, which very quickly was making far more than even the best-paid job. But he was lonely, and before long married again, Penelope being his third wife, a Townie with whom he discovered he had most of the same interests; and of course she LOVED his house which was already large-ish. She was an actress, but left that career as she was getting older (ie had grey hair...) - and is now a business executive. Bob finally decided his Slice City was making enough money so took a few roles in film and is now working as an extra. Penelope intends to retire and focus on magic and gardening soon.

Ground floor, showing the source of Bob and Penelope's wealth - their very successful Slice City, which brings in §7000+ a day.
Roof off. The pool is an unusual shape, but I cannot get the pool slide to work (it's one of Candace's). Would be grateful for any suggestions.
"No, we DON'T want to adopt a baby. We are very happy as we are!" These calls were happening more and more often. But why disturb their heavenly existence?
The pinball machine has wound up, little used, in the box room, where Penelope's old Magic stuff is also stored but little used. Bob's in Penelope's study answering the phone; his study can just be seen in the upper picture with red wallpaper, next to the front door.
Next to their bedroom suite is the playroom, complete with zebra sofa.
In the playroom is the clown painting, together with the clown alarm...
A view of the whole house from the front.
And from the rear.
(Last minute addition!) The living room contains the antique lamp as well as two of Candace's lovely dressers. You can just see the buffet on the sheltered patio outside. Their parties are very popular and successful.
