"As this skill is developed, it shortens the time it takes to develop other skills, with the exception of Athletic and Charisma. Teen and child Sims also get a homework speed boost as this skill is developed... This skill also increases the chance of winning all varieties of games." Prima Guide.
Slowest to Fastest
So you CAN save time by driving a more expensive car. Unless it's a limo.
The fastest cars can sometimes be faster than even teleportation. Because 'teleport to work' often teleports them in at the exact opposite of the side of the building with the entrance.
Sims frequently don't opt for the fastest option.
They also have an annoying tendancy to still want to use taxis and carpools when you own vehicles, or to use a vehicle to get to a location that is literally next door or across the street.
Don't use the "teleport to..." interaction on the teleporter.
Rather, move the camera where you want, clicking on the ground THERE, and selecting "teleport here." This puts you, for example, at the front door of the shop instead of the back.
Also handy for teleporting right next to a target Sim on a remote lot, for questy-type things which require that you talk to a specific Sim.
Teleport to and back from otherwise unreachable spots like a roof or an island.
Pick something out of one Sim's inventory (a single item or the whole cluster), and drop them on the thumbnail of the Sim you'd like to give them to. It'll go into their inventory.
If someone is way off out of the house and is hungry you can drop some food from one sim to their inventory. You can also open the fridge or bookshelf and drop items into that sims inventory.
If one sim is out hunting for seeds or rocks or fishing you can instantly transfer those items to another sim at home so they can plant or cook or get a gem cut or whatever.
If you have the moodlet soother it's really useful to pass that from one sim to the next no matter where they are.
Also of use is you can drag food into the fridge for storage, or into the dishwasher to get rid of it. Books can be dragged into the bookshelf and so forth.
You can click the little blue corner on a stack of objects and move the whole stack.
If someone's making a recipe needing fruit, I move all their Life Fruit to another sim so they don't stupidly waste it (or the fridge, since they seem to prefer to cook from inventory items). Now that I think of it, I should probably do the same with Deathfish if they're making a fish recipe too..
If you have two bookshelves, they contain separate inventories (just like in real life!). So, make one bookshelf full of books the Sim has yet to read, and another with books she has already read.
Apples! get an apple tree! Not only do they seem to regrow faster than another other plant's fruit/vegetables but they are super quick to eat, filling, no chair required, no waste to get rid of and as you noted, may be moved by AM's Hand of God to family members a long way away.
You can change the color of the baby's blanket in Create-A-Sim if you have AwesomeMod. Open Cheat box and editsim choose clothing. Nothing shows up but pick the 'everyday' category then used the style palette and change the color.
A toddler sleeping with a teddybear in their inventory gets a +20 "Cuddle Time" moodlet. You can also place the teddy directly in the crib, but if you leavae it in their inventory it still appears in the crib.
Childish adults also get a buff for a teddy in inventory.
The base Grief penalty is -50 for 48 hours. I knew that you could cut that to -25 by either putting the tombstone in the graveyard, or mourning. What I didn't realize is that the two stack - if you do both, it drops to -12, which is a significant cut given the length of the debuff.
A relative in another household dying off-stage incurs no penalty, but if your Sims see it happen, it's as bad as a regular household death. The tombstone goes in the mortuary, so you'd better take a trip to the graveyard to Manage Dead immediately to cut that -50 penalty.
Set any door to be the front door by clicking on it and choosing said option.
With high handiness level you can tinker with the door, and even change the
ring tone.
Workaholic Sims have the option to "Work from home", which allows them to raise their performance outside their work hours on a computer.
If you're looking at objects grouped by room, it's under "Outdoors". Then click on the football icon (Activities). The water sprinkler is there. I guess it's there because Sims can play in it, but it works perfectly well as a garden sprinkler.
