PlantSims come with Seasons EP. Plant Sims by default have green skin with vine-like tattoos, special leaf or flower made hair and yellow eyes. There are many default replacement skins, etc.
On initial transformation, any hair that was there before may fall out of the head to be replaced with a growth of leaves and flower saplings. This produces spores which can produce clones or improve the physical conditions of other forms of life in the immediate vicinity, including other PlantSims. When at least 3 PlantSims release the "Spores of Happiness" at once, they may mutually improve each others needs infinitely, creating the first known actual example of perpetual motion, albeit in a very natural, crude form. releasing the "Spores of Happiness" raises the motives of nearby Sims, and slightly reduces the PlantSim's motives. The motive cost is much lower than that of "Rally Forth!", and releasing the "Spores of of Happiness" cannot kill a PlantSim, as PlantSims can only release them when their moods are very high.
Toddler PlantSims will look like their father, the ideal plantsim, a hidden NPC. 1
To turn a Sim into a PlantSim, overuse the plant spray. (Personally I find if a Sim does a lot of gardening, sooner or later this WILL happen. In order to become a Plant Sim, a Sim must spray their orchard trees or plants to excess. Adult or elder sims must have sprayed pesticides 10 times on plants on that particular lot. Then, every time you spray after that, there's a 10% chance of your sim being turned into a Plantsim.
Get loads of those Ambrosial Orange, Apple and lemon trees. In the cheat box type boolprop testingCheatsenabled true. Hold shift and click the trees. It should say DEBUG: INFEST WITH BUGS. Click this on all the trees. Be your sim and click the tree. It should say 'Spray' or, if possible 'Spray Many'. Click this. Keep infesting the trees with bugs and spraying them until they become a PlantSim.
PlantSims immediately receive a Gold gardening badge. They retain this if they transform back into "normal" Sims.
The Plant Sim condition can be "cured" if a Sim buys the Plantophic-C from a member of the Garden Club, or a Witch, or the Gypsy.
Plant Sims only age within three life stages: Toddler, Adult and Elder; thus, they lack the Baby, Child, and Teen stages, as well as Young Adult. Besides aging differences, they have three needs: Sunlight (satisfied by going outside or using a sun lamp), Water (satisfied by drinking water, taking showers or baths, being outside in rain, or by swimming) and Love (equivalent to the Social need). Plant Sims also gain a prank interaction (pollen cloud), the ability to release spores of happiness (which boost nearby Sims' needs), the ability to talk to orchard trees or plants, and the ability to reproduce asexually (grow plantbaby). 1
While still being able to reproduce in the normal Sim way as well. Spawned offspring begin life as toddlers and have a gold gardening badge and the same skills and personality as their parent. However, their facial genes are a combination of the parent and a hidden NPC named Ideal Plantsim.
Their only life stages are Toddler, Adult and Elder, so PlantSims who enter life as toddlers will never attend school, and cannot go to college.
PlantSims have only three needs. They have the same needs as all plants:
It is best to always keep the PlantSim in some form of light, as the Sunlight need deteriorates faster than the other needs, and cannot be replenished with the "MaxMotives" cheat. A PlantSim's Love and Water motives are affected by being in the room with a Snapdragon Bouquet, but this does not affect the Sunlight motive. A PlantSim can replenish Water and Sunlight by being out in the rain during the daytime. However, while a PlantSim is bathing to replenish the Water motive, being under a greenhouse light will not affect the Sunlight motive.
They DO also show evidence of having hidden motives, eg Fun. They can eat and use toilets, though don't NEED to
Because they have a shorter lifecycle than most Sims, they are less likely to fill the Aspiration Bar.
The family album of the Greenman family implies that Gabe O'Mackey and Jason Greenman went on a hiking trip and discovered this society in the mountains near Riverblossom Hills, where Rose Greenman was discovered.
1 While Plantsim babies are apparently a clone of the parent, this is illusory - they all have the same skin, hair and clothes. To be sure, use Cyjon's mod to be sure of an exact clone. Otherwise in an unmodded game, the toddler has some genetics from its putative father, the Ideal PlantSim.
"As you may know, you become a plantsim once you have sprayed crops more than a certain number of times. The problem is that when you leave a lot, whether to go to the neighborhood or to go to a commercial lot, it doesn't save the spray count so it resets to zero.
The reason for this appears to be that EA forgot to create the token that keeps track of this count so it has nowhere to save to - oops! I tried to recreate the token myself but failed. Instead, I created my own token that operates in parallel with the official one." Cyjon get his fix.
