The contestants assembled in the big sitting room after they all got back from work.
They all looked to Kutto, who seemed to be smiling, but didn't say anything.
Rosemary cleared her throat. "I have an announcement to make."
"Oh, so have I," said Annann, grinning like a Cheshire cat.
"There's a ladybird on the window" said Rosemary quickly. Then looked confused.
"Er - that isn't what I meant to say at all."
"Kutto - kissed me last night."
"Yeah, great party wasn't it?"
"But Rosemary darling, we have all been kissed by Kutto," said Annann.
Rosemary blushed furiously.
"WHERE did he kiss you?" demanded Sally Jo, tenacious and increasingly suspicious of Rosemary's "glow".
Rosemary blushed even more fiercely.
"He asked me to MARRY him!"
"He WHAT?"
Kutto spoke very quietly in the middle of all the spluttering.
"I asked her to marry me." Then he smiled and said "and she said YES!"
"But but but..."
"Remember, this Challenge had no rules. It was decided - by my heart," he beamed.
"I didn't really know exactly what I wanted in a wife, when this all began, but I've found a beautiful, nurturing, kind, sweet lady. Rosemary!"
Rosemary, speechless, pointed to the diamond on her finger.
They all watched Angelika beatin her logic blocks into submission for a while.
Sally Jo, to break the heavy stillness of the room, asked "What was your announcement, Annann?"
"Oh, I was going to say, I'm out of the contest anyway - I'm going to be Mrs Mayor - I mean Mrs Pescado. Senior."
"Ahhh" smiled Rosemary, now much relieved that she didn't have to keep her secret any longer. "Sexy brains!"
"You know what I think was the saddest part of this Challenge? Max. I miss him. I think Angelika and I are going to get a dog - or dogs."
"Anyway, with that I am off house-hunting. Congratulations Kutto and Rosemary! and you too, Annann. Have a good life, all of you."
"Let me know as soon as you have an address, and I'll send over the baby furniture for you," beamed Kutto. "And thank you, all of you, for taking part! It has been a pleasure and an honour to get to know you all. Your money has been deposited and you should all be able to afford somewhere pretty decent, but you don't have to move out instantly!"
The Challenge was over.
Bea Angelnuts bought a tiny, run-down house with a large garden in Carlspeace, and Kutto dropped in to help her build on an extension and decorate.
Liz Frillen, Sally Jo Thespus and Annann Ackersim bought an abandoned warehouse in Carlspeace. Tigress Kitten, Phyllis Provamel, and Aussie Grant bought a place together in Strangeways.
Phyllis looked at herself in the mirror and decided it was time to get a makeover. Tigress, of course, looked at herself in the mirror and decided that she was perfect.
Kutto and his fiancee thought they would probably move to somewhere smaller after their wedding. In face, Kutto was hoping to sell the house back to the company, so that he could afford his next project.
There was a terrible accident at the old warehouse: the roof collapsed and all three, Liz, Sally Jo and Annann, were killed. This was not discovered for a little while, but once it was, Kutto took their urns to the local Paranormal Investigator's house, Frank Dobbs, who was living happily with Grimma Catbutt and her three cats and one dog, and brought them all back.
Annann promptly moved in with her fiance, and they had a private wedding before anything else could happen. Then they called Kutto in to build them a zombie-proof bunker beneath the Mayor's house.
MsMaria, Jess Marie and Gina Avers bought a place together.
Sally Jo hired Kutto to build her a house to her own design. "After that disaster, I want a new build." Liz moved in with her.
