In my new steampunkish Hood, I built a monastery. This, inspired by some discussion
on , is a Carthusian monastery.
(In the RL version of the Carthusian Order, the Rule of Silence applies - which really doesn't make sense for
Sims! and there is no way to enforce it for them.)
By some strange chance I built it on a Community zoned Lot 1. No idea how that happened... I intended it to be residential, for four or five monks. Anyhow,
on loading it up, it also works quite well as a Community Lot. Sims go there and enjoy
the place. It's all Maxis content in the first place, like all my lots.
The one monk I had already made in the Hood went straight there. He immediately made himself at home in one of the two choir monk houses (monks who are in silent retreat, effectively hermits, who spend their time in study and prayer...) grabbed a book and sat down happily. The trouble started when the accordion player turned up, trapping him and two other Sims in the tiny house's doorway. Some traffic issues there... maybe accordions should be banned from monasteries.

Playing it as a Residential Lot works even better. My monk invited a few of the neighbourhood Sims (Townies) to become postulants. Their robes still haven't arrived, but with the sewing machine from , they can sew their own.
There is a large cloister, which will be filled with hanging plants.
And of course, like any centre of male celibacy, the place is a babe magnet. The local ladies just can't stay away!
Download St Isidore's as a Community lot with ONLY Maxis content. (If you use it as Community and without Sir Laphelot's hack, you will need to change the piano for the large black Downtown one.)
It can also be installed as a Residential Lot; this seems only to depend on the zoning of the lot before placement of the file.
This Lot is set to Lot 53 but you could rename it and use on Lot 1. It was made with ALL EPs installed and probably needs them to work.
