A Tale is a period in the gametime of the alternate timeline ATITD is set in. The Fourth Tale is a busy, lively time with a rather thinly populated country, of mostly experienced (and thoroughly addicted) players.

Each Tale has skipped a couple of generations, so that those in the first Tale are considered the grandparents of those in the second and so on. Many keep the same names for their avatars throughout all the Tales, and many of the existing players have been playing ever since Tale 1.
